Short Biography for conferences

Stephen Kingham is an intentionally recognised leader and expert in VoIP, IP Telephony and VIDEO based on the popular H.323, SIP and ISDN based technology as well as Quality of Service (QoS) and legacy IP and PABX Networks.

He has worked full time in the field of Information and Telecommunications since 1980. Culminating in the business case, engineering designing, and managing the VoIP (started 1998) and VIDEOoIP services (started 2002) for CSIRO and the Australian Higher Education Sector, these initiatives by Stephen are regarded as show case services. In 2004 he initiated a process of awareness and predesign to migrate the sector to SIP based technology with it's superior performance and features and ubiquitous user interfaces before it was seriously considered or known about. Some of his presentations in Australian Conferences are regarded as historical events heralding in significant technologies of worth. His most recent position as senior engineer on a Secure Video Conference Project with DFAT.

Stephen has proven to have exceptional leadership and foresight in technology and leadership of teams. From basic training and experience. He is widely respected by CSIRO and University data networking, voice networking, and video support staff in CSIRO and all the Australian Universities. He created the successful VoIP and VIDEOoIP Working Groups in AARNet to enable like minded people within the sector to act as a community. He is also a respected person within the International community, as founding chair of the APAN SIP-H323 Working Group, Member of the Internet2 Real Time Communications Advisory Group, and several other National and International Working Groups in VoIP and VIDEOoIP.

He is also has proven management experience and post graduate qualifications in Management of IT. Putting best practice Project Methodologies to good use in all his projects and has developed several variations of his own to coordinate virtual teams.

Stephen is an accomplished training and presenter. Regularly leading full day tutorials and workshops on the very latest innovative technologies. Not just with in the corporate and government sector but in the far more demanding Higher Education and Research Sector, not just with in Australia but Intentionally. Before AARNet he had several long association with CSIRO, Centrelink telephone network and call centres, DFAT and AQIS.
